History of Station 20
Originally, Station 20 was going to be Station 3 for the North Ada County Fire and Rescue. Planning had started in 1999.
Volunteers and some paid staff members, in addition to BLM personnel manned the one engine, one brush unit station during the brush/grass
fire season. In December, 2009, North Ada County Fire and Rescue (now part of Boise Fire) and Boise Fire Department joined in a mutual agrement
to operate as one, becomeing part of the Boise Fire Department. Currently the station is not staffed, except during the brush/grass fire season.
The BLM operates from this station during these periods.

| ENGINE 20 is a Pierce Arrow that formerly served as the North Ada County Fire and Rescue
Engine 202. It became a reserve as Engine 205 and remained at Station 18 (then County Station 2). The engine was
involved in a serious motor vehicle crash on Fairview Avenue in the 1990's, resulting in the cab portion being totally
destroyed. Pierce rebuilt the cab and engine portion, leaving the body, pump, and cabinets from the older engine.
The new cab featured four doors instead of the open jump seats. When Station 20 was built Engine 205 retained its
numbering, but was moved to Hidden Springs. When Boise City Fire Department began operations, the Engine was
re-numbered to Engine 20.
