History of Station 17

In March, 2010, Station 17 opened as a joint operation between Whitney Fire District (the financing) and Boise Fire Department (operations and personnel). The building was constructed at 3801 South Cole Road. Originally, as written in the "Idaho Statesman" the station would house an engine company, truck company, and a battalion chief.

When the station opened, a new Pierce Arrow XT pumper was stationed as Engine 17. HazMat 12 and HazCom 12 were moved from Station 12 to Station 17, where they now reside.
